(Note: Jeffery LaCroix is a veterinarian with an office in Wilmington. He writes a column for the Morning Star called "From Paws to Tails."

Here is his response to a letter regarding bathing a cat :)

Dear Dr. LaCroix: I've heard that cats never have to be bathed, and that they have some sort of special enzyme in their saliva that keeps them clean. This doesn't sound believable to me because there are definite "kitty" odours on my sofa and dirty cat paw prints on our white hearth. Is this true about the saliva? If we do decide to give "Nice Kitty" a bath, how do we do that? - NSP, Wilmington

Dear NSP: Fortunately for you, several years ago a client gave me a written set of instructions about cat bathing which I am privileged to share with you:  CLICK FOR FULL ARTICLE

Calvin Klein Obsession for Ocelets?

DALLAS (Reuters) -- Dallas Zoo researchers looking for ways to save the ocelot by encouraging the endangered cats to breed have found a scent that drives them wild -- Calvin Klein Obsession for Men cologne.

Four female ocelots in captivity reacted more powerfully to the cologne than to natural odours tested in a project aimed at using scents to guide ocelots to each other in the wild, Dallas Zoo research curator Dr Cynthia Bennett said.

Ferocious Mountain Cat

Recently, 3 hikers were walking in the wilderness of northern Alberta, Canada. The day was nice, the sun shining and everyone was in generally good spirits. SUDDENLY, from out of nowhere they were viciously attacked by a ferocious mountain cat which stuck with the speed of lightning, slashing and devouring the three unwary hikers.

Some time later, game wardens stumbled across the grisly scene and noticed that one of the hikers had managed to snap a picture of the beast before being killed. They quickly brought the camera back to the lab and had the film developed so they could get an idea of what they were dealing with.

To this day, the picture haunts them to the bone.
